GRADING STANDARDS · 2026

How Funko Pops are graded.

Every grader uses the same four subgrades, but they weight them differently and apply them through a Pop-specific lens. Here's what's actually happening inside the building during the 4-8 weeks your Pop is gone.

The four official subgrades

PSA, CGC, and Beckett all publish four subgrades on every slab: Centering · Corners · Edges · Surface. The overall grade is roughly the worst of the four — they don't average. CGC adds a fifth (Authenticity) for chase / signed / convention Pops.
Each subgrade is on a 1-10 scale with half-point increments. A 10/10/10/10 yields a perfect 10. Three 10s and a 9 yields a 9.5 final. Two 10s and two 9s yields a 9. Drop one to 8 and the final caps at 8 regardless of the other three.

What lowers a Funko Pop grade most often

Box corners — single biggest grade-killer. Any whitening from a 6-inch viewing distance drops Corners by 1 full point. Real dents cap Corners at 8.
Centering — Beckett is famously strict; a Pop that grades 9.5 at PSA can come back 9 from Beckett on centering alone. 60/40 or worse is an auto-deduct everywhere.
Paint slop on the figure face — most common Surface deduction. Visible through the window from arm's length = automatic 9 ceiling.
Sticker integrity — peeling, off-flush, or color-faded stickers count against Surface. A reproduction sticker fails Authenticity entirely.

How the houses differ

PSA (Newport Beach, CA): strictest on paint surface. Forgiving on minor edge wear. Fastest turnaround for Pops (~4-6 weeks bulk).
CGC (Sarasota, FL): best authentication service for signed / chase Pops. Strict on plastic damage. ~3-5 weeks.
Beckett (Plano, TX): strictest on centering by a wide margin. Best subgrade transparency. ~6-8 weeks.
FAQ · how funko pops are graded

Asked & answered.

What grading scale do PSA / CGC / Beckett use for Funko Pops?
All three use a 1-10 scale with half-point increments. 10 is gem mint (perfect), 9.5 is mint, 9 is near-mint, 8 is excellent, 7 is very good, and below is collector-grade. Each issues four subgrades — Centering, Corners, Edges, Surface — and the overall grade roughly tracks the worst subgrade.
What lowers a Funko Pop grade the most?
Box corners (any whitening drops Corners by ≥1 point), centering shifts of 60/40 or worse, visible paint slop on the figure face, and sticker peeling or fade. Cracks anywhere cap the grade at 8.5 or below.
How long does Funko Pop grading take in 2026?
PSA ~4-6 weeks (Pop economy tier), CGC ~3-5 weeks, Beckett ~6-8 weeks. Express tiers cut time to 1-2 weeks for ~3× the fee. Concierge submission services (like Popinspect's Bulk plan) batch and track shipments but don't change the grading house's queue.
Can I predict the grade before submitting?
Yes — that's exactly what Popinspect does. Upload 5 photos, get an AI-predicted PSA / CGC / Beckett grade range and a SEND / MAYBE / HOLD / SKIP recommendation. 94% match rate within ±0.5 grade across 12,000 audited submissions.
Is Popinspect an official grader?
No. We are pre-grade intelligence — we predict what PSA, CGC, or Beckett are likely to grade your Pop. The official grade still comes from them. We just make sure you only ship the ones worth shipping.
