The 8 categories every condition check covers
Funko Pop condition isn't one number — it's eight axes that combine into a grade. Box (corners, edges, dings, fade), Window (scratches, clouding, alignment), Stickers (integrity, authenticity, flatness), Figure paint (slop, eye centering, gloss), Figure body (mold seams, head fit, scratches), Centering (figure inside window), Vaulting & rarity (factory plastic intact, provenance), and Overall presentation (display appeal).
PSA, CGC, and Beckett publish four subgrades each (Centering · Corners · Edges · Surface) — our 8 categories map to those four, but split out the things that uniquely matter for Pops (the figure inside the box).
Funko Pop condition scale — what each grade means
Mint (9.5–10): factory-fresh. No corner crush, no paint slop, sticker flush, centered figure, plastic intact. Maybe 1-3% of Pops you'll find in the wild.
Near-mint (9.0): one tiny flaw — a faint corner whitening, a hair scratch on the window, a 60/40 centering shift. Most submission-worthy Pops live here.
Excellent (8.0–8.5): visible from a foot away. Light shelf wear, a small paint touch outside the line, a sticker that's settling.
Very good (7.0–7.5): a definite issue — corner ding, window crack, missing sticker, off-center figure. Submitting at this level rarely earns the fee back.
Good and below (≤6.5): collector-condition only. Save the $25 PSA fee.
Printable Funko Pop grading checklist
Hold your Pop under a daylight bulb (not yellow incandescent — it hides defects). Walk this list and note any deduction:
- All 8 box corners — any whitening, crush, or fold? Look from a 45° angle.
- Top, bottom, side edges — visible dents under raking light?
- Window plastic — hold to light at an angle. Scratches show as silver lines.
- Stickers — flush against the box? Color match production run?
- Figure face — paint inside every line? Eyes centered? Gloss even?
- Figure body — visible mold seams? Head sits straight? No glue residue?
- Centering — figure equidistant from left and right window edges? Top/bottom too?
- Factory plastic — intact, no slits, no reseal residue?
Any 'no' answer drops a category score by 1-3 points. Three or more 'no' answers means you're looking at a 7-8 and probably shouldn't submit.

FAQ · funko pop condition checker
Asked & answered.
What does 'mint condition Funko Pop' actually mean?
Mint = a PSA / CGC / Beckett grade of 9.5 or 10. Factory-fresh box (no corner whitening, no edge wear), pristine window (no scratches), centered figure, flush stickers, perfect paint, intact factory plastic. In practice, 1-3% of vintage Pops and ~10-15% of recent Pops qualify.
What does 'near-mint' mean for a Funko Pop?
Near-mint corresponds to a 9.0 grade — one minor flaw such as a faint corner whitening, a hairline window scratch, or a slight centering shift. Most Pops that successfully earn their submission fee back land here.
What's a good grade for a Funko Pop?
For modern Pops, 9.5+ is the threshold where graded value typically exceeds raw + submission cost. 9.0 is borderline and depends on the SKU. Anything under 9.0 rarely earns the fee back unless the figure is unusually rare.
How accurate is the AI condition checker?
Popinspect matches the official PSA grade within ±0.5 in 94% of cases across 12,000 audited submissions. Borderline calls are flagged as MAYBE with the specific reason, so you can re-shoot or pull the submission before paying.
Is Popinspect an official grader?
No. We are pre-grade intelligence — we predict what PSA, CGC, or Beckett are likely to grade your Pop. The official grade still comes from them. We just make sure you only ship the ones worth shipping.
