When NOT to submit
- Paint slop > 2mm: capped at 8.5 best case — you'll lose the fee.
- Box dings on any front corner: 9 ceiling, drops to 7-8 if visible from straight on.
- Sticker fade or off-flush: kills 10s. Worth a CGC look but not PSA.
- Convention/chase without provenance: get authentication first, then grade.
Our methodology
Popinspect calibrates its 47-point inspection against 12,000 manually graded submissions across PSA, CGC, and Beckett. We re-audit quarterly and version our scoring model — current version: v1.2-2026-05. We match the official PSA grade within ±0.5 in 94% of cases.
